UpTicker was built as a simple starting point for people who are curious about investing but don't want to wade through a professional trading terminal to find something interesting. It surfaces today's best-performing stocks and cryptocurrencies trading under $5, alongside a curated look at well-known collectible watches and cars.
Stock prices and daily percentage gains come from the Alpha Vantage market data API, filtered to companies trading under $5 a share and ranked by 24-hour performance. This data updates automatically and reflects real market activity.
Cryptocurrency prices come from CoinGecko's public market data, scanning the top 500 coins by market capitalization and ranking those under $5 by their most recent 1-hour price change. This list refreshes automatically throughout the day.
Unlike the stock and crypto sections, there is no free, live pricing feed for luxury watches or classic cars the way there is for public markets. The Blue Chip, Rising, and Grail picks in these sections are hand-curated based on collector reputation and market history — they are illustrative starting points for research, not live market prices. Each entry links out to Chrono24 or Bring a Trailer, where you can look up real current listings and past sale prices.
